1945 to 1965

I was born in London in 1945 and grew up and was educated in Harrow. I left school in 1962 halfway through the sixth form and studied fashion design and clothing technology at the London College of Fashion. After qualifying, I worked in a number of fashion companies until starting my own business in 1966. I later returned to LCF as a lecturer in experimental design, using materials and some processes that had been developed through space technology. I created an exhibition for Selfridges of my own experimental designs. My clothing design was always concerned with how clothes felt to wear and the experimental methods of their construction, as well as how they looked.
